Open culture- a concept according to which knowledge should be spread freely and its growth should come from developing, altering or enriching already existing works on the basis of sharing and collaboration

AK is an example of an entrepreneur with open culture characteristics. His first entrepreneurial venture was a Malaysian consultancy MAI Holdings Sdn Bhd. He also set up Exoil Trading, which went on to purchase oil drilling concessions in various countries. After that, he moved into gambling. He started diversifying into the multimedia arena early 1990s. Currently, he has business interests in media like Astro, satellite like MEASAT and SE, oil and gas like Bumi Armada and Pexco, telecommunications like Maxis, Aircel and Sri Lanka Telecom.

AK shows that he was an open culture person when remove Maxis Bhd. from the Malaysian stock exchange in order to privatize the company to cater to global market. He also maintains relations within the government sector in order to create awareness about his service to the society. AK decided to privatize Maxis and promote the company globally for its investment benefits. Moreover, his actions would also be beneficial to his community as it hypes the name of his country Malaysia and a successful Malaysian.

As a conclusion, open culture is a characteristic that develops a person’s character. An entrepreneur should develop this character so that he can have more opinion from different views before taking a solid decision.
