Howard Shultz

Howard Shultz was most known as the chairman and chief executive officer of Starbucks Corporation which is a company that specialize their production on high quality coffee that first take place in Seattle and now have 22519 stores in 67 countries all around the world in just a period of 44 years. 

Observant– Based on the oxford dictionary, observant means quick to notice or perceive things. Observant people enough to find a gap or discover any new opportunity and willing go out of their comfort zone to a different world.

Howard Shultz is one of the successful entrepreneurs that possesses and practice this vital trait in his career. After graduating from Northern Michigan University he started to work as a salesman for Hammarplast, a European coffee maker company in United States. This is the starting point of the Shultz career. He noticed a small operation of coffee store in Seattle purchasing an unusual high number of espresso coffee makers, without hesitating, he set off his journey to Seattle. 

He met the owners of Starbucks, impressed by Schultz`s marketing skills and business knowledge, they ask Schultz to join them as the head of marketing and retail operation and this results the birth of modern Starbucks. However, due to different opinions in business decision, Schutlz left the company and open his own coffee bar, II Giornale. Two years later, he merged II Gornale with Starbucks and realizes his business idea by bringing in the concept of Italian coffee tradition that is new to the society of United States. Again, an outcome from his observation in Italy, he turns Starbucks into a place for conversation and a sense of community, a third place between work and home.  In conclusion, Schultz`s success is closely related to his observance.
